Background: China's National Treasure

The giant panda is native to the bamboo forests of central China and is recognized worldwide as a symbol of wildlife conservation. WWF's logo since 1961, the panda represents endangered species protection. Pandas eat 12-38 kg of bamboo daily despite having a carnivore's digestive system. Their distinctive black-and-white coloring provides camouflage in snowy, rocky mountain habitats. As a cultural icon, pandas appear in Kung Fu Panda, as Olympic mascots (Bing Dwen Dwen, 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics), and in Chinese diplomatic 'panda diplomacy.'

Design Notes: 14×14 Pixel Composition

This 14×14 grid (196 beads) uses only 3 colors: white for the body and face, black for ears, eye patches, arms and legs, and gray for subtle shading. The black eye patches are the most critical detail — without them, it could be any bear. At easy difficulty, this is one of the most popular animal patterns, particularly beloved in Asian markets. The 14×14 size is large enough for a coaster or wall piece.

FAQ

Can I make a red panda with this pattern?
Not directly — red pandas have rust-red fur with white face markings, a completely different palette. However, you can adapt the basic body shape by swapping white for reddish-brown and adjusting the face markings.
